National Poetry Write and Read (Day 8-14)
This is day nine and I'm a couple of days behind.
So Here goes for the eight day of National Poetry Writing Month
This is really just a challenge to myself to write a poem a day.
Day 8,
April 8, 2008
Feeling Nothing Special
A narrow escape
Some may call it fate
Too soon to tell
Today I feel well
Sometimes it's crazy
We want to feel lazy
Nothing on the mind
But today I feel fine
Don't know about tomorrow
And I don't really care
My thoughts are on today
For once again my life
was spared
A narrow escape
From a metal cage
It would do me well
If I could feel rage
But inside I'm calm
I know who I am
Peace abounds deep
No more words can I speak

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Now to me that poem was just a rambling of
nothing because I'm feeling just a
little on the lost side of things.
And I guess it's normal to not feel at all.
Who says we have to feel anything. This is
just one of those days that it is good
to be in the land of the living. Oh by the
way it's my daughter's birthright day so
to her I say "I Hope You Had A Special Day"

DAY 9
APRIL 9, 2008
A Very Good Year
When I was young
Didn't have much fun
To busy trying to be grown
So I could venture out on my own
The grass wasn't greener
When I left the nest
Made a mess of my life
Didn't get life's best
No one to blame
But me myself and I
Too busy seeking
That fake pie in the sky
What was life anyway
To live
To eat
To die
Who was I anyway (then)
Why did I reach for things up high
There wasn't any wrong down below
Just too many questions why
What was this think called life
That everyone tries to escape
Is our end our beginning
Or was it all just fake

I hope tomorrow is a better creative mind day for me.
Today was just senseless ramblings and that really shouldn't be.
But I didn't have a subject and most of the times that is
what I work from. Tomorrow will be a brighter day.
I can feel it in my bones.

DAY 10
APRIL 10, 2008
ANOTHER DAY
Another day has come
And gone
The day is spent
Didn't seem so long
What did I do
Where did I go
Was it a real day
I just don't know
What is real
And what is fake
What is naught
Time can't make
Any changes
Time doesn't stop
Ready or not
Tick Tock
Tick Tock

DAY 11
APRIL 11, 2008
WAITING
What are we waiting for
To live
To laugh
To cry
Life is a waiting game
Job is done
And then you die
Where do you really go
What do you really see
Once you leave this body
What can life then be
Is there a hereafter
Or is someone pulling my leg
Is there a Judgment Day
What do you have to say
This can't be all to life
To live
To eat
To die
What is waiting for us
On that other side of the sky

DAY 12
APRIL 12, 2008
Can You See
What is that you really see
When you open your eyes to look
What is in front of you
A picture that you took
What do you really see
When your eyes are closed tight
Is it really darkness
Or can we call it night
What are those sparks of light
That float in front of your eyes
Is it a picture coming through
Or is it just a disguise
What is darkness anyway
Can you touch it
How does it feel
Is it part of reality
Can we say darkness is real

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just took a look at my poems and they are out of
order; the last ones have become first. Which I don't
think it really matters because they are all here.
Writing a poem a day isn't as challenging as I thought.
I have done this before many years ago. I wrote a poem
a day for a dear friend of mind. This is a little
different because I haven't quite given myself a theme
yet. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have a theme that will
carry me through the rest of the month. Peace Out

DAY 13,
APRIL 13, 2008
TIME: 1;25PM
THINKING
Does thinking come naturally
Like opening up your eyes to see
Or does it take some hard work
To arrange how things should be
Is thinking automatic
As natural as the ears that hear
Or does it take some effort
To draw positivity near
Is thinking something hard to do
Can it be mastered with time
Do thoughts just appear in space
Or from the backlog of our minds
What is thinking anyway
And how should it be done
Is it systematic
Like the rising of the sun
Does it come with concentration
Do we just stare and thoughts appear
Or is it something we must work at
To remove all doubts and fear
What should we be thinking on
How are we to tell
Is there a map laid out for us
A secret place where all thougths dwell

DAY 14
APRIL 14, 2008
PURIFIED BY FIRE
Purified by fire
To stand on holy ground
Hearts purified by fire
Will make them strong and sound
Fire purifies the mind
And cleans out your inner thoughts
You can only stand on Holy Ground
When your lower-self is lost
Humbly do we try to seek
The power from above
We must cleanse our minds by fire
To see that blessing we call love
Standing upon holy earth
Holiness must start from within
We must be cleansed by the fire
To let Allah light come in

National Poetry Writing Month
It's already day 4 so I must play catch up and produce four poems
Not sure what format they are using but here is mine.
Day One
April 1, 2008
The Bent
Watch the bent in your child
And you'll see when they turned wild
Cut if off before it starts
It will save you from a hurtful heart
Watch the way they react
When something goes wrong
When you see them leaning to the left
Tighten the reigns and make them strong
Watch the bent in your child
And you'll catch them
Before they turn wild
Look at the friends they bring around
Listen to their speech
Is their character sound
Watch the way they start to answer
When it's something you want to know
Watch the snarl form in their lip
That's one bent that has to go

Day 2
April 2, 2008
The Ungrateful Child
What makes a child ungrateful
Unthankful to the core
What makes a child who has everything
Keep wanting more and more
What makes them think we owe them
And must give in to their every demand
What makes them turn against us
And act like their foundation
Is built on sand

Day 3
April 3, 2008
Little David
Little David all dressed up
Braids neatly in a row
Spreading joy and happiness
Everywhere he goes
All mannered down
Knows all the words to say
Follows The Striaght Path
One with Allah all the way
His religion is Islam
Peace is all he knows
In Harmony with his higher self
He's a Moslem from head to toe

Day 4
April 4, 2008
What Is Life All About
What is life all about
Tell me if you can
Is my life worth something
What does it take to be a man
I hear someone tell me
A real man reaches up
Know who he is on the inside
Moderation is in his cup
He takes care of himself
And knows right from wrong
He's one with his God
And his religion within is strong

Day 5
April 5, 2008
Almost Fatal
In a flash we can be gone
With no fault of your own
In the blink of an eye
You could be looking from on high
In a split second
You can be gone
No fault of your own
Just a day
Before the dawn
You think all is well
Everything is a go
Life is sweet
And then you don't know
What happen
What went wrong
My beliefs intact
My faith is strong
So what happen
In the wink of an eye
Life turned completely around
Filled with questions
Asking why

Day 6
April 6, 2008
The Day After The Storm
Shaking off
Trying to stand straight
Weak all over
So I'll just call it fate
Could have been worse
Could be gone
Be I'm still here
But for how long
How many storms
Does it take
To end it all
How many disappointments
How many distant calls
Life is so fragile
Life is so sweet
Live it to its fullest
And we won't know defeat

Day 7
April 7, 2008
Isn't It Wonderful
Isn't it wonderful
This thing call life
Isn't it fabulous
Living in the light
Isn't is glorious
When you know in whom you please
Life is a many door
And guess who has the keys
Life isn't a mystery
So easy to be understood
Life can be an open door
Some say knock on wood
What keys are you holding
How many are in your hands
Keys are as plenteous
As the grains of sands
